ONE ORTHODONTICS has invested in state-of-the-art technologies.

The clinic leans on the work of its sister Company Line + Line for its R&D expertise and analysis of emerging technologies, as well as developing its own proprietary technologies.

The Clinical Lead, Dr Donaldson has a specialist interest in the assessment of existing and emerging technologies. He is the author of a chapter on orthodontic bracket design in a leading orthodontic textbook, a clinical reviewer for the Journal of Orthodontics and also the lead of the 3D Unit at Kingston Hospital, which is an in-hospital three-dimensional medical & surgical digital design and manufacturing facility. The 3D Unit supports a wide range of surgical specialities from facial-surgery, audiology, oral surgery and orthodontics, through to orthopaedics, for example the planning of complex wrist and ankle fracture surgery.

High-Tech Clear Aligners

ONE ORTHODONTICS researches the design of aligners to understand their advantages, disadvantages and limitations before offering them in the clinic.

Three-Dimensional (3D) Optical Intra-Oral Scanner

Inra-oral optical scanners use visible light (no x-rays) to create a 3D replica of the teeth and some of the soft tissues in the mouth. This technology also accurately captures colour. The use of these scanners means that traditional impressions, which can be uncomfortable and often don't taste great aren't needed.

Three-Dimensional (3D) Optical Facial Scanners

In the clinic we use this technology (which uses calculations based on the speed of light) to create a 3D light scan of your face to track treatment progress.

Cone Beam (High Resolution - Low Dose) CT Scanner

This high tech scanner (which is a relation of the CT scanner found in hospitals) produces high resolution 3D images of the bones and soft tissues.

The 3D scanner in the clinic has the capability to perform small ultra high resolution scans of the fine detail inside teeth, as well as large scans of the entire face, skull base and airway used for facial surgery planning.

Orthodontic
3D Virtual Treatment Simulation & Planning Suite

3D virtual simulation in orthodontics uses light based scans taken at your assessment to create a virtual model of the teeth & bite.

The clinic has a dedicated 3D virtual treatment planning suite.

This enables your doctor to simulate treatment and outcomes. This can be helpful for both simple and complex cases.

Facial Surgery
3D Virtual Surgical Simulation & Planning Suite

In a small proportion of cases where surgery is suggested as an option, we simulate and plan the surgery in 3D, producing 3D printed surgical stents / cutting guides and /or fixation plates.  3D virtual simulation in facial surgery uses light and 3D x-ray based scans taken at your assessment to create a virtual model of the face & jaws.

This virtual model can be used to precisely plan surgery and create custom 3D printed devices used in surgery to make precision cuts and plate the bones in their new positions.

This process is carried out in the dedicated 3D virtual treatment planning suite.
